The Rise or Fall of American Empire?

OLMERT – McCAIN and SHAUL MOFAZ?

Not to be outdone by Obama – or for that matter Bush and the soon-to-be dethroned Olmert (see here for pending demise) – Israel’s deputy PM and current transport minister, Shaul Mofaz, did a one upmanship on the lot of these guys by declaring an attack by Israel on Iran is both unavoidable, as well as saying “we will attack it.”

“Shaul Mofaz, Israel’s transport minister and deputy prime minister, has told an Israeli newspaper that an attack on Iran looks ‘unavoidable’ because of the apparent failure of UN sanctions to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

“In an interview with the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper to be published on June 8, Mofaz is quoted as saying, ‘If Iran continues with its program for developing nuclear weapons, we will attack it.” (Iran:  Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister Says Attack Looks ‘Unavoidable’ – Radio Free Europe – Radio Liberty – June 8, 2008)

Now, if you were Barack Hussein Obama and said that – just what redemptive phraseology would you employ in order to counter the outcry heard in Arab capitals – let alone in Moslem, as well as world capitals?  Well, not so fast here – listen to Barack Hussein Obama yourself . . .

“The Iranian regime supports violent extremists and challenges us across the region. It pursues a nuclear capability that could spark a dangerous arms race, and raise the prospect of a transfer of nuclear know-how to terrorists. Its President denies the Holocaust and threatens to wipe Israel off the map. The danger from Iran is grave, it is real, and my goal will be to eliminate this threat.” (Obama’s Speech to AIPAC, June 4, 2008)

Well, you say, it all depends on the meaning of the word eliminate.  Ah, the cleverly devised travels of the camel continue through the deserts of the Middle East.  According to Al Jazeera, the word eliminate did not sound all that gracious toward fellow Moslems in Iran and elsewhere throughout the Middle East; to wit:

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Democratic presumptive presidential nominee Barack Obama vowed Wednesday he would work to eliminate the threat posed by Iran to security in the Middle East and around the globe. (Obama says goal “to eliminate” Iran threat, AlJazeera.com, June 4, 2008)

Amazing how folks hear what they want to hear.  Naturally, Obama’s words via Al Jazeera were selected for affect – he really meant that prior to bombing Iran into the Stone Age, we need to “aggressively negotiate” with Teheran.  Through face-to-face negotiations with both Iran and Syria, American’s new champion of power politics made simple, will save the day for peace and prosperity in our time; and, who knows, Iran might just give up her nuclear ambitions (now that Jimmy Carter announced that Israel has 150 nuclear warheads) and Syria, along with her umpteen terrorist organizations operating out of Damascus, might just decide it isn’t worth the effort (now that she and Iran have an iron-clad defense pact in place to blow the bits out of Israel if either one of them is attacked) – yes indeedy, camels can now fly – and, last heard and seen, Barack Obama was caught flying around on one!

All this begins to make sense – with the American and Israeli Jews just as bewildered as their Gentile counterparts – both hopeful that they haven’t lost their minds; although, both freely admit that camel sightings have increased and appear they might accelerate, given the political climate . . . some claim they’ve seen camels hurriedly making crop circles, then rapidly disappearing from Iowa corn fields where Obama got his start!  How silly.  We all know that moveon.org made those circles to validate Iowa’s brilliance in turning the tide in favor of Obama.  Spelling out “our time has come” in alien-hieroglyphics may impress some in Iowa – but not the folks in South Dakota who saved the day for Hillary by awarding her one final victory prior to her graveling in the political dirt to become Obama’s second in command – that blew the crop circle theory to smithereens.  Yet, how could someone riding on a John Deer law mower splice through a South Dakota wheat patch that fast—even if their name was Hillary?  How alien is that?

All seriousness aside, let’s consider what’s at stake in all this bantering about Jerusalem.  But, finally, John McCain – not to be outdone by the confusion coming out of the Democratic Camp – comes out and advocates moving the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem posthaste (see here).  Naturally, once the State Department gets a hold of that little ditty, McCain-style clarifications will ensue (Note:  He may be boring as Peoria, but occasionally he comes off with a goodie that desperately lends itself to clarification.).

“‘Jerusalem is undivided, Jerusalem is the capital and we should move the embassy to Jerusalem before anything happens,’ McCain said while campaigning in Miami.

“McCain stressed, however, that the ‘subject of Jerusalem itself will be addressed in negotiations by the Israeli government and people.’ (McCain calls for moving US Embassy to Jerusalem, Haaretz.com – June 7, 2008)

INTERNATIONAL INTOXICATION

The Bible, with amazing accuracy, acclaims Jerusalem will be made a “cup of trembling” (Zechariah 12:2) or literally, “a reeling (from intoxication)” (Strongs #7478).  In other words, all the nations are going to get drunk over Jerusalem!

“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness (reeling) to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem.  And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it . . . the LORD will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall not become greater than that of Judah.  In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the angel of the LORD before them.  And it shall be in that day that I will see to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem” (Zechariah 12:2-3, 7-9).

It is abundantly clear that in the Latter Days Jerusalem – and most assuredly, for that matter, Jerusalem refers both to the literal city, as well as to the Jewish people both in Israel and throughout the earth (cf. Daniel 9:24 – “Your people and your holy city”) – will face the hostility of the nations of the world:  The full fury of Gentile World Power under the onslaught of the Antichrist-Beast.  Notwithstanding this horrific clash of spiritual and physical dimensions . . .

“At that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to that time, and at that time your people shall be delivered, every one who is found written in the book” (Daniel 12:1).

“Let the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; for there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.  Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe.  Come, go down; for the winepress is full, the vats overflow—for their wickedness is great” (Joel 3:12-13).  (cf. Revelation 14:17-20)

“For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; the city shall be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished.  Half of the city shall go into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.  Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle.  And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east.  And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley” (Zechariah 14:2-4a).

 . . . shall result in Israel’s salvation and deliverance . . .

“The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; for this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins” (Romans 11:26-27; Isaiah 59:20-21).

. . . and the final redemption of the nations . . .

“And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles” (Zechariah 14:16).

On the one hand Jerusalem has and will continue to be a cup of trembling to all the nations of the earth – who, as the “earthlings” surmount the full religio-political spectrum under the headship of their potentate, the Despicable One, the Man of Sin – until the cry shall ascend from the depth of their corrupted bowels:

“Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing?  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Messiah, saying, ‘Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us” (Psalm 2:1-3).

The political posturing of the nations – under the heel of the Antichrist-Beast – shall so intensify on that day not too distant, that a state of profound spiritual rage and drunkenness shall abound throughout the planet – incensed to destroy the apple of His eye – they will gather (not knowing) against the LORD Himself and against His Anointed One (the Messiah) Who shall . . .

“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse.  And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.  His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns.  He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.  He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.  And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.  Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations.  And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron.  He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:  KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS . . . and I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.  Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.  These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.  And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse.  And all the birds were filled with their flesh” (Revelation 19:11-21).

A most frightening sight is this to these earthlings but an altogether glorious vision to those “who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus” (Revelation 12:17b; 14:12) – to THE WOMAN – to the whole people of God – to both Israel and the Church – to the Two Olive Trees and the Two Lampstands – to those who sing the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb – to the two groups of 144,000 in Rev. 7 and 14 – and, to the names of the gates, the Twelve Tribes of Israel; and the names of the foundations, the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb . . . the Twenty-Four Elders.

HAVE YOU NOTICED? . . . OR ARE YOU BLIND, NAÏVE, OR FOOLISHLY OPTIMISTIC?

No, I’m not sorry I sound presumptuously arrogant at this juncture; however, the cause of this seemingly spontaneous lack of humility is provoked by mostly American brethren who persistently deny America’s leading and undeniable role in biblical prophecy regarding Israel’s precarious posture among the nations of the world—and virtually her sole and ever-increasing guardian-protector status before the rage of the nations.  The 800-pound gorilla is playing – is anyone listening?

How is it brethren, that only America, out of all the nations of the earth, now claims preemptive rights to Israel’s protection?  How is it that seemingly, she alone stands out among the heathen as Zion’s holy protector?  Don’t be ridiculous to demur and figure out that this geo-political phenomenon is but a fluke of history – a temporary political aberration which shall not last.  To the contrary—each day it becomes more and more abundantly clear that the US-Israeli Alliance is the most formidable military alliance (though not wholly formalized), not only in the Middle East, but perhaps the world itself!

Literally, the supernatural entanglement between these two nations is stupendous in its scope and downright unbelievable, given America’s growing isolation before these same nations (especially when it comes to Middle East politics).

Yet, these same prophetic Scriptures speak of an ultimate DEFENSE PACT (Daniel 9:27) between THE PRINCE WHO IS TO COME (the Antichrist – Daniel 9:26) who will make a LEAGUE (Daniel 11:23) with “the many” (i.e., the majority of Israel) at the “the time of the end” (Daniel 11:35; 9:27).  Our writings are prolific on this US-Israel Alliance – yet America’s leading prophetic proponents deny, disregard or confuse the hapless masses for fear they will lose their income stream or damage their reputations (in the process)?

The 800-lb. gorilla persists – but scarcely will they acknowledge his overweening presence!  Enraptured either by Europe’s Javier Solana as a would-be Antichrist on the ready to confront Israel or denying the Testimony of Jesus throughout the Church’s greatest hour during the entire Seventieth Week of Daniel through either a partial or a complete pre-tribulational rapture of either overcomers (SHAME, SHAME upon those who adhere to such an elitist subterfuge in allowing the weakest of brethren to carry the charge before Antichrist – when they so selfishly acclaim their own spirituality as superior to escape the endurance and perseverance of the saints – you would incur the ire of Corrie ten Boom, most definitely) or the rank and file Laodicean lightweights now wholly subsumed by the world’s pleasures and wealth anticipating an “any moment” rapture and gleefully subscribing all their bills to the Antichrist!

ESCAPE VERSUS ENDURE

He shall “KEEP YOU” (Grk. tereso – “to hold dear and/or close”) “from the hour of trial” (Rev. 3:10) does not mean to “spare you” but “keeping the eye upon” – having nothing to do with “preventing escape from” (see Strong’s #5083). Pre or partial rapturists have for nearly 200 years claimed sanctity and “escape from tribulation” within Revelation 3:10 and the claim that they as overcomers constitute in Latter Day history the Philadelphian church; however, the persistent use of this Greek word tereso throughout the Revelation (Rev. 1:3; 12:17; 14:12; 22:9) demands otherwise (i.e., as in “keeping His eye upon those enduring suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ”) connotes an enduring and perseverance until the end, not an escape from tribulation.  As Grant R. Osborne summarizes:

“In this sense it (i.e., tereso – “I will keep” – ek, “out of” – Rev. 3:10) connotes not exemption from trials but protection within trials.  This is in keeping with the emphases in the rest of the book (of Revelation), especially in connection with the seals, trumpets, and bowls.  Therefore, the point is that the Philadelphia church (identified with all faithful believers here) will be protected from the wrath of God against the unbelievers but not from the wrath of Satan, and that this protection is within and not a removal from (as in a pretribulation rapture) that wrath.” (Revelation, Grant R. Osborne, Baker Exegetical Commentary on the New Testament, 2002, pp. 192-4) (Note:  Osborne’s “contextual” exegesis of the text is brilliant and utterly convincing – Walvoord and other pretribulationists who use “preservation after removal from the period” of testing do injustice to the other “eschatological contexts elsewhere (Rev. 1:19; 8:13; 10:7; 12:5; 17:8)  (which) refers to the final events preceding the Parousia” or the final events which make the “trial” in Revelation 3:10 part and parcel of those events (seals, trumpets, bowls) which will affect “the whole world” unto the literal Second Coming of Christ; i.e., preservation and perseverance to the very coming of the Lord; not “escape from” but “preservation in” – see Osborne, p. 193).

Finally, a resounding confirmation of Osborne’s exegesis is echoed by G. H. Lang’s.  Believers, who have endured until the end, shall “here (have) bodily removal from this earth, not being strengthened to endure” any further – it is their inner man who is removed – not their outer man – please, carefully follow Lang’s reasoning:

“In Rev. 12:9 we read that, ‘the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, he that is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole inhabited earth.’  This reference to Satan as the ancient serpent plainly refers back to Eden and all subsequent history, and requires that ‘the whole inhabited earth’ shall be understood in its full sense.

“Nor can any sound plea be urged for limiting its force in Rev. 3:10:  ‘Because thou didst keep the word of my patience I also will keep thee from the hour of trial, that hour which is to come upon the whole inhabited earth, to try them that dwell upon the earth.’  The expression ‘to be kept from’ (out of, ek) a trial, by no means allows of the sense ‘to be enabled to endure’ a trial, but evidently means not to be called upon to meet it.  John 17:15 is quoted to the contrary:  ‘I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world (ek, tou kosmou) but that thou shouldest keep them out of the evil one (ek tou ponerou).’  Here ‘the world’ is the sphere in which men have their bodily existence, and ‘the evil one’ is the sphere in which they have their moral existence:  ‘the whole world lieth in the evil one” (I John 5:19).  To be taken out of the world means here bodily removal from this earth, not being strengthened to endure its bodily afflictions; to be kept ‘out of the evil one’ means similarly that the inner, the true man, moves no more in the evil one as the sphere of moral life, not merely that the believer is strengthened to endure temptation.  His inner man is translated out of one kingdom into another (Col. 1:13).  The idea of change of location is in all three passages.

“Then also we have already seen from a wealth of passages that the time of the end is most assuredly to affect the whole (earth) world without limit, so that to be ‘kept from that hour of trial’ cannot mean to escape from a so-called ‘prophetic earth’ into outside regions, for there will be no regions unaffected by that period.  Nor can ‘the hour of trial’ be the day of the Lord which is to follow the Tribulation, for that day is not one of trial but of judgment.  The terms tempt (or try) and temptation (or trial) do not appear to be applied thereto, for the sufficient reason that the period of testing and proving man is then over, and the time for judgment resulting from that previous testing is then come.  Moreover, that is the day of the Lord, whereas it has just before been intimated that Satan, not the Lord, is the agent of temptation (trial):  ‘the Devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried’ (Rev. 2:10).  Thus the ‘hour of trial’ will be the tribulation, and it will be as universal as is the earth, for ‘the whole inhabited earth’ (oikoumenee) is obviously equal to ‘those dwelling upon the earth’ (gee), and since a limit cannot rightly be attached here to the term ‘the earth’ (gee), none can attach to oikoumenee as here used.

“That the edict of persecution will be more strictly enforced at the centre than at the circumference of the Beast’s dominions may well prove the case, and therefore it may be that the ‘sheep’ (Matt. 25:33-40), who favoured the avowed followers of Christ (‘My brethren’) during the Tribulation, will come mainly from those northern and eastern countries whose kings by that time will be disaffected against the Beast.  But if this prove to be so, it will further show that even in their areas the edict of the Beast will have authority, and that not even there will the godly ‘escape all those things that shall come to pass (Luke 21:36).” (The Histories and Prophecies of Daniel, G. H. Lang, The Paternoster Press, London, 1950, Appendix A, pp. 195-6.)

BEHOLD – TODAY’S PROPHECY BUFFS TALK ALL AROUND AMERICA BUT DENY HER CENTRAL ROLE IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND THE WORLD!

I decided to explore America’s – and for that matter, the world’s – foremost prophetic news web sites when it comes to prophecy in the news and immediate commentary.  In order to do this I went to ALEXA, the world’s foremost website traffic counter, to see which websites dominate the prophetic circles – here are the objective results according to at least ALEXA (although many other factors should be considered – however, this is most interesting when one uses their series of key words Top > Society > Religion and Spirituality > Christianity > Perspectives > Prophecy > Prophecies > End Times > News ) – so, in order of popularity, the TOP 10 are:

(1)  FULFILLED PROPHECY – A pre-wrath website which caters to a final end-of-days Antichrist who hails from Europe.  Speculation that the Seventieth Week of Daniel has already begun as a result of the EU’s economic accord struck with Israel under High Commissioner Javier Solana’s leadership heightens interest in the website.  Overwhelming preponderance of Euro-prophetic fulfillment prevails.  America is NOT in the picture aside from being a peripheral player on the world stage subservient to the Euro-Antichrist.  To prove me wrong—I’d like our reading audience to research this site and tell me I’m wrong!  Site was founded by the late Herb Peters and is currently operated by his daughter and her husband, Adam and Holly Pivec of Southern California.  The site is pre-wrath and virtually post-tribulational in its emphasis.  In their own words:

“Fulfilled Prophecy is a Christian, end-times site that believes it’s possible the world may have entered its last seven years before Christ’s return – a time prophecy scholars call the “70th Week of Daniel.” For reasons why, read our Overview. We report on recent events that have occurred in Europe and the Mediterranean that appear to be fulfillments of ancient Bible prophecies – events that have gone unnoticed by most Christians. These events include the rise of a 10-nation military alliance, the creation of a powerful office that appears to match the office of the Antichrist, and the strengthening of a covenant between many nations for a period of seven years.” (See “Our Position”)

NOTE:  I am NOT here to deride the sincerity of anyone’s commitment to Jesus Christ – I would assume that most of these folks are dear brothers and sisters in Christ – it is their eschatology which disturbs.  The brethren involved at Fulfilled Prophecy are sincere and undoubtedly persuaded (wrongly) that the USA has little if anything to do with Bible prophecy—notwithstanding the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.  Their overt fixation on all things Euro – at the “eschatological expense” of the West’s unequivocal leadership and ipso facto the final conglomerate expression of Gentile World Power found in Revelation 13:2 deserves the thunder of the late Open Brethren expositor, G. H. Lang, who eschatologically devastates the “Revived Roman Empire” theory and, consequently, the base of Antichrist ascending from a wholly European Continental outcropping.  Allow me to extensively quote G. H. Lang’s brilliant insights into the expansion of the end-time Gentile World Power, the Beast and the Beast’s Kingdom of the Latter Days:

“Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.” (Revelation 13:2)

“It should also be observed that the image (as seen in Daniel 2) is an unbroken continuity from the head to the feet; there is no break, with later reunion of its parts.  Similarly, the fourth Beast (Daniel 7:7-8, 19-21, 23-25) continues in view uninterruptedly from its emergence to its destruction, it does not die and come again to life.  The phrase, ‘The reviving of the Roman Empire’ is seriously misleading.  There is no Roman Empire known to prophetic Scripture, though the Romans are mentioned in New Testament history; and the fourth empire has never ceased, though, like the three preceding kingdoms, it has gone and is going through internal changes which are unnoticed as not material to prophecy.  It is the Beast personally, the Antichrist, who having lived, dies, and later comes up out of the Abyss (Rev. 17:8-11) . . . In what conceivable sense can an empire or a city or a political system go there, and come thence again?  Thus, in Rev. 13:2 the Beast (personal) is both lion, bear, and leopard, the symbols in Dan. 7 of the three preceding empires.

“The attempt to show that there always have been in the Roman Empire about ten kingdoms, is like attempting to prove that the image had about ten toes, sometimes eight in number, sometimes thirteen, but always about ten, and that its toes grew out all down its legs, in fact formed its legs.  The toes are the extreme final stage, as the head was the first, and the number ten is not merely incidental, as natural to the human form being the figure employed, but is emphasized by being repeated in the ten horns of the beast, where it is non-natural.  As ‘four horns’ proved to be four in number (Dan. 8:8, 22), why should not ‘ten horns’ mean ten?

We therefore reject the term ‘Roman’ empire, and dismiss with it the notion that the area of the fourth empire, or the location of its final ten divisions, can be determined even approximately by what it formerly has been.  The empire has not yet reached its full development, and when it does so it may be as much more extensive than at any time before as each of its predecessors when centered at Babylon became vastly greater than it had been at any previous time.

(My note:  Undoubtedly, G. H. Lang had in mind the physicality and revival of ancient Babylon in Iraq proper; however, I hasten to add that these United States of America are NOW wholly emboldened to make Iraq the center of its Middle East foreign policy agenda – notwithstanding all the rhetoric from would-be Democratic candidates to exit the Empire from Babylon’s apex.  Indeed, the extant of Babylon’s final manifestation and of the Beast’s manifestation cannot be limited for it encompasses the whole earth but clearly the Beast of Revelation 13:2 is the final expression of Gentile World Power, but is, as well, fixated with ancient Babylon—never could there be such an incredible convergence of prophetic fulfillment as we witness today!)

“If we once begin introducing our own explanations of points which the Spirit of God leaves untouched, where will the process end?  If the two legs represent the division of the empire into east and west, and the collapse of these parts means the passing away of the empire, then, logically, we must note and explain the facts that the western half was destroyed A.D. 476, whilst the eastern survived till A.D. 1453.  Thus imagination must conjure up the singular spectacle (wholly unperceived by Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel) of half the image standing a thousand years longer than the other half, and standing on one leg!  Again, if the two legs of the one vision mean the twofold division of the empire, then the (presumably) four legs of the beast ought to mean a fourfold division.

“His (Antichrist) sphere will be that of Satan, the whole earth:  he will have authority over every tribe, people, tongue, and nation . . . Thus world movements are preparing for one world authority; Satan’s sphere is already the whole world; the Beast will sit on his throne and rule for him; that Satan and the Beast will aim at less than universal dominion cannot be supposed, nor would any scheme but that of one central world authority promise cessation from world strife, the need and longing of the race.  Then the numerous and various biblical terms which describe the Beast’s kingdom combine to describe world-wide rule.  It would appear that if the non-Scriptural, confusing terms ‘Roman’ empire and ‘prophetic earth’ are avoided, the notion of a limit (Editor’s Note:  Limited to the European Continent) to the areas of the Beast’s authority when at its height will not arise from anything that is said in Scripture.” (Appendix A, The Histories and Prophecies of Daniel, G. H. Lang, The Paternoster Press, London, 1950)

(2)  ENDTIME MINISTRIES – This site is the “prophetic flagship” of the United Pentecostal Church (UPC – “Jesus Only”) and is operated by the Irvin Baxter family out of Dallas, Texas.  There is but 3.5 years left of Daniel’s Seventieth Week (a classical eschatology which denies Israel’s prophetic viability).  Notwithstanding, Baxter sent out a newsletter to some 144,000 Jews now living in Judea.  America is somehow in the prophetic configuration of Baxter’s eschatology –

“Consider the lion with eagle’s wings. Great Britain’s official animal symbol is the lion. Some of Britain’s flags have had the image of the lion. It is common to see Britain referred to as a lion in news articles and political cartoons. The entry for lion in Webster’s Third New International Dictionary states that the lion is the symbol of Great Britain.

“Now consider the eagle’s wings. Take a look at the reverse side of the United States’ one-dollar bill. On the great seal of the United States you will find the image of an eagle. It is common knowledge that the eagle is the national bird of the United States and that its image is repeatedly used in the news media to represent the United States.

“Interestingly, in Daniel's vision, we see the eagle's wings coming out of the lion. Here we have a clear depiction of the United States growing out of her mother country, Great Britain.

“God in his foreknowledge and wisdom saw the nations that would exist at the time of His return. In His love, He gave Daniel a vision so that we might have understanding in these last days and prepare ourselves for His soon return!” (The United States in the Bible)

Notwithstanding the discovery of these eagle wings found in Daniel 7 – Baxter’s emphasis on the website is nigh fully a Euro-Antichrist.  His accolades, like my own, are somewhat mixed on Who’s Who in Bible Prophecy—a rabidly Pre-Tribulational prejudice operated by some guy called Sound Christian who identifies those he likes by “green apples” – those who are partially acceptable by “yellow apples” and those who are assigned “red apples” (I’m, of course, a RED apple and proud of it – I never liked green apples and yellow ones weren’t far off either!).

“Unique views of prophecy, says they are his theories.  Has many good and bad ideas.  He believes we are now living in the tribulation period, in the midst of the sixth trumpet of Revelation 9, and we may soon witness the annihilation of 2 billion people.  The fifth trumpet he claims began in 1991 when Saddam Hussein (Saddam means the destroyer) set Kuwaiti oil fields on fire, and ended with Saddam’s execution in December 2006.  He claims Saddam and the fires are described in Revelation 9.  Mainstream scholars consider that absurd.  He is host of the popular radio program, ‘Religion and Politics,’ and is founder of Endtime Ministries.  He does have a correct view on Israel’s role in history, and correctly argues against preterism.  He is affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church which denies the Trinity and believes its methods are the only true way to salvation.”

It’s difficult to probe the depths of any prophetic topic on Baxter’s site—tragically, virtually EVERYTHING is for sale . . . just when you’re getting interested in a topic, off it goes into a marketing format and you’ve got to buy the “product.”

(3)     BIBLE PROPHECY IN THE NEWS – (Note:  Not to be confused with Bible Prophecy in the News – a pretribulation website featuring Rodrigo Silva.)  The website is a plethora of what appear to be articles by those and insights from a number of individuals who were once a part of Herbert W. Armstrong’s Worldwide Church of God.  Therefore, the site caters to a strong emphasis upon those doctrines and eschatologies originally espoused by the Seventh-Day Adventists with an emphasis upon British Israelism.
