The Dimensions of Paradise
in Light of the “Sacred Cubit”

Devoting two complete chapters on the symbolism of number is, in a word, impossible – not that this audience could not stomach such a tedious scrutiny – however, any attempt would be superficial and unfair to everyone.

Originally, it was suggested this chapter/article be entitled: the New Jerusalem – Symbol of the Entire Universe – but wouldn’t this be way out of literary reality and slightly ostentatious beyond the pale of credulity and naught but shameless ego enhancement; especially, hailing from them who desire to inherit the earth as amongst the “meek”?

Probably – but after considering this posture but pious turpitude, I’ve decided this is precisely the discovery needed in that to refrain from these “numeric explorations” would be de facto consignment of the topic to the exclusive purview of the Sacred Geometry community and allowing the banter of a few theological malcontents insisting we cease and desist this most prophetically-fulfilling topic altogether; I press on!

New Jerusalem – “Symbol of the Entire Universe” – John Michell

The New Jerusalem as “Symbol of the Entire Universe” is exactly what John Michell, the philosopher of hippies, in his Dimensions of Paradise commenced in 1988, and who, twenty years later in 2008, released his final edition on the subject, prior to his passing in 2009, devoting over 100 pages to the symbolic use of number and its sister topic, the Sum of the World Soul, originally proposed by Plato (viz. that there was such a sum/aggregate number possessing staggering econo-socio-politico-scientific ramifications; thus, the search both for its individual terms and subsequent numeric sum have befuddled us ever since its origins were proposed). (Note: Michell’s final text, How the World Is Made: The Story of Creation according to Sacred Geometry, covers similar material and is exceedingly graphical throughout with Allan Brown’s masterful art work.)

It’s somewhat inescapable to discuss “Number” and the New Jerusalem without delving into the realm of Sacred Geometry and the mind of Dr. Michell. In Chapter 5 of his text, “Symbolic Number,” Michell’s lust for pagan credulity seems unmitigated in using the ultimate climax of the universe, the New Jerusalem, and her descension, as his final recourse; and more, how certain weighted symbolic numbers, applied by gematria, play such a huge role, especially in sacred texts of early Christianity (alluding, no doubt, to the 27 sacred volumes of Christian canon – although Messiah’s full disclosure (“27”) in Sacred Christian Canon doesn’t appear to have an obsequious fondness in Michell’s divine dimensions; perhaps due to the purposeful thesis that the concept of “deliverance” is a non sequitur when morality is naught but an expression of the ever-changing world of social mores?).

ISRAEL’S ALTARS

Moses, Solomon and Ezekiel

Section IV, Part 5 – The Wonderful Numbers of Sacred Canon

Altar of Burnt Offering & Incense Altar

“And let them make Me a sanctuary (lit. “Sacred place”) that I may dwell among them.  According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it” (Exodus 25:1).

It’s as if we’re dealing with the “God of Dimension” Who is meticulous in “pattern” – for “…see to it that you make them according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain” (Exodus 25:40).  This “pattern” is inextricably adumbrative in its configurations – for the writer of Hebrews declares:

“Who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle.  For He said, ‘See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain’…. Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these” (Hebrews 8:5; 9:23).  Therefore, it is recorded:  “So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.  To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation” (Hebrews 9:28) . . . . Yes, we are dealing here with “a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things” (Hebrews 10:1).

Please allow me, at this time, to preface this document as both a devotional, as well as a tedious research paper – a rare combination of hopeful inspiration and amazing calculations validating the authenticity of these Sacred Altar measurements – measurements whose dimensions clearly detail their ultimate destination:  The New Jerusalem.

The three Altars of Israel under consideration are those of Moses – the Tabernacle in the Wilderness (a.k.a. the Altar of Burnt Offering); Solomon – The Altar of Sacrifice in Israel’s First Temple (a.k.a. the Bronze Altar); and, the futuristic Millenarian Altar of Sacrifice found in Ezekiel.  Truly, these three epic Altars of Israel reveal the “Triple Crown” of the Almighty’s intentions for humankind in that Moses, through whom the priesthood was initiated, encapsulates the “Priestly” aspect of the altar – in bringing God to man, and man to God; the Solomonic Temple Altar depicts the kingly ministry – the Lion of the Tribe of Judah; and the futuristic Millenarian Altar of Ezekiel is representative of Messiah’s prophetic ministry…our Priest, our King and our Prophet.

ALTARS – ANCIENT EGYPT TO THE APOCALYPSE

Measure the Temple, the Altar, and the Worshippers

“Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod.  img1And the angel stood, saying, ‘Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there.  But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles.  And they will tread the holy City underfoot for forty two months” (Revelation 11:1-2)

The prophetically-powerful imagery of those worshipers who alone are worthy to be “measured” at the altar in contrast to those excluded from this manifestation of ownership (for the measuring reed connotes possession of a divine order if one is so measured) – the one measured is uncompromised, the others in the “Court of the Gentiles” fail the measuring rod in that they have not been circumcised of heart and therefore the altar wholly evades them – and worse, it is they who persecute the sanctified ones at the altar for 42 months wherein they, the Holy City, are trodden under foot – for the “measured ones who worship at the Altar are likewise the Holy City.”  Throughout this tome we will examine that connectivity between the ones measured who worship at the Altar and the Holy City, Jerusalem, “the Woman, the Wife of the Lamb.”

There is abundant tedium in this read, so, if you can’t handle it…just move on and digest what you can.  The idea here is to bury the skeptic to the point they have little recourse but to admit, at least, “There seems to be a pattern going on here!” – right – and that pattern has a Divine design destined to confirm our most heightened interest in those Sacred Objects and “object lessons” which instruct us in these latter days that the Almighty has never deviated from His original purpose in placing man before the Tree of Life to partake thereof and become His glorious Bride, the Holy City, New Jerusalem!  Yet, tragically, life at the altar in Revelation 11 will antagonize those who are sequestered in the Court of the Gentiles – so close and yet so far away. It will most definitely be those religionists who admire the accouterments of commitment but refrain from making that final consecration at the altar of sacrifice – therefore, they have become the antithesis of the Holy City – i.e., Babylon that Great City filled with the “religion of compromise” out to persecute the inhabitants of the Holy City and to tread asunder her environs during the 42 months of Great Tribulation.

And, it is that Holy City, New Jerusalem, in which that same “golden reed” is used “to measure the city, its gates, and its wall…The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth…and he measured the city with the reed:  twelve thousand furlongs.  Its length, breadth, and height are equal…Then he measured its wall:  one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel” (Revelation 21:16-17).

None Dare Call it Conspiracy - Rethinking our Lives
December 26th, 2011

By Dene McGriff

As we come to the end of another year, the world appears to be more dysfunctional than ever. Governments the world over have stalemated, unable to govern, too divided to agree on much of anything. In an age of purported modernity, secularism, political correctness, acceptance and openness, nations and governments seem to be as factional and sectarian as they have been for thousands of years. Is this a conspiracy? Is it prophecy? What great forces are at work? Are we facing economic chaos and technological warfare? Demographic forces – will they overwhelm us?

So why is the world so dysfunctional? Why don’t they seem to care about the plight of the average citizen? Why does Europe keep vacillating with regard to the PIIGS? Why don’t the Middle Eastern dictators and military rulers seem to care one wit for the people? Why do the Wall Street banksters laugh all the way to the bank with their big bonuses – thanks to the Fed and a compliant President and trillions of tax payer dollars in a shady “off balance sheet” bonanza? Why do we have gridlock in Washington DC?

I have never been much into conspiracy theories but I am about to change my mind. The ruling elites (whether elected or not) seem to be out of touch with the people they “represent.” The United States is a country that historically had tremendous consensus. There was little difference between a “Republican” and a “Democrat”. Today, the gap is so wide between the Tea Party, the Occupy Movement, the elected officials and the electorate – there is no room for compromise.

There are tectonic forces at play the Bible calls “birth pangs” or the “beginning of sorrows”. Wars, rumors of wars, famine, pestilence.
