HE WILL ENFORCE THE TREATY …Christian-Biblical Zionism vs. the Political-Religious Left Chapter 17 THE FALSE PROPHET By Doug Krieger
We’ll touch on the political Left and the rational in their irritation and strident abhorrence toward Israel’s persistence to declare her right to their ancient homeland…but it’s the Lefties among the religious who shall receive the acid of this missive, the rapier to the heart of their anger toward the “apple of His eye.” What absurdity and evil intent lurks – especially among the more allegedly biblically-based proponents who claim love for Zion, but who are rabidly incensed toward those they claim are the Christian Zionists who are in league with the political Right and ipso facto espouse an agenda wholly embraced by the Antichrist and propagated by the False Prophet whose breath they inhale to become the very Image of the Beast! Listen, this writer has no truck with Dominionists, militant Christianity and the host of the “just war” crowd on the Right – but today’s outburst on the Left whereby a growing number of activists (both Left and Right) desire to “take the kingdom by force.” Common cause between the two advances but it is the Left whose intrusion into the normally pro-Israel evangelical community that grows increasingly more vocal. Lenin-Mao-Stalin – Hitler-Mussolini-Tojo – take whatever trident of the devil you wish, but know this, whoever among the extreme (and it will be EXTREME) Left or Right you chose, I can readily assure you both sides have the full potential to put a hammer lock on Israel, trust me…and if you don’t trust me, then you’ve never read this verse: “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling to ALL THE SURROUNDING PEOPLES, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem … I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for ALL PEOPLES; ALL who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though ALL NATIONS of the earth are gathered against it . . . it shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy ALL THE NATIONS that come against Jerusalem” (Zechariah 12:2-9 excerpts).
Indeed, some who live in trailers (akin to Michael Moore’s duplicitous behavior) are wont to take their cruises along the Pacific Coast while badgering the saints for their tithes and offerings as if the dear saints were so privileged and blessed to support such anointed ministry from which they are told they are being fed – ipso facto, we’re desperate for your offerings in order to keep us sailing on the next cruise to Mexico’s Riviera – notwithstanding the plumbing’s going out in the trailer (kind of puts a new twist on the meaning of “dimwits, numbskulls and nincompoops” who contribute to such excursions of gaiety). Take your pick – the fundamentalist Pharisees or the resurrection-denying liberal Sadducees – both conspired to crucify the Lord of glory and both were blatant hypocrites, white-washed sepulchers. THE KING HAS NO CLOTHES
Allow me to indulge in the most obscure of metaphors to prove my ultimate point in the declaration that the king really wears a most frightful garment: nothing! This childish declaration will become evident to all observers as we understand the profundity which awaits as the parade of his highness embarrassingly approaches. For those who know these Scriptures which foretell of Israel’s climactic rendezvous within the vortex of Daniel’s Seventieth Week – “for your people and for your holy city” – and the events written by Daniel the Prophet received from the angel Gabriel wherein “O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill to understand” (Daniel 9:24, 22) – know most assuredly that these things pertain to Israel, a people yet future, gathered in their holy city to live out that final septad which commences with Antichrist’s forceful imposition upon the “many” for one week (Daniel 9:27) of that fateful Treaty of Hell and Death (Daniel 9:27; Isaiah 28:15, 18). “The city, together with the sanctuary, shall be destroyed by the people of the prince who shall come, who shall find his end in the flood; but war shall continue to the end, since destruction is irrevocably decreed. That prince shall force a strong covenant for one week on the mass of the people, and during half a week he shall take away the service of sacrifice, and borne on the wings of idol abominations [cp. Ps. 18:10, where the true God is also borne on wings] shall carry on a desolating rule, till the firmly decreed judgment shall pour itself upon him as one desolated” (A Close Look at Daniel 9:26, 27: Antichrist’s Reign of Terror, Anthony Buzzard from Keil’s Commentary, p. 373).
“Even Leupold, an Amillenarian who considers the seventy sevens as extending to the second coming of Christ, objects to the historic fulfillment of the seventy sevens [Note: Among those who would disinherit Israel and claim the Seventy Weeks prophecy pertains to them or has already been fulfilled, are the Mormons, Seventh-Day Adventists, Jehovah Witnesses, Harold Camping, Hank Hanegraaff, Philip Mauro, Stephen Sizer, Donald Wagner, Marc Ellis of Baylor University and Gary Burge of Wheaton College) – please see: Israel’s Prophetic Witness; Jesus Christ Does the Work of Antichrist; and, Israel’s Temple Sacrifice and the Abomination of Desolation]. He writes, ‘All they have left for the last week and the consummation of the seventy year-weeks is an unimportant date seven years after Christ’s death, when something so unimportant happened that the commentators are at a loss as to what they should point to. That interpretation runs out into sand. No one has yet advanced a halfway satisfactory answer as to why such a termination of glorious work should be selected to close at the computation.’ Leupold comes close to the premillennial interpretation as he identifies ‘the prince that shall come’ of verse 26 with the one who is related to the covenant in verse 27. He states, ‘The person under consideration as making the covenant is…the Antichrist.’ Keil, after a lengthy discussion, presents the same view as Leupold; that is, the one making the covenant is the Antichrist. Keil concludes, ‘Therefore the thought is this: That [an] ungodly prince shall impose on the mass of the people a strong covenant that they should follow him and give themselves to him as their God.’” (Daniel The Key To Prophetic Revelation, John F. Walvoord, Moody Press, pp. 232-3) Here is no delightful occasion wrought by the Messiah of Israel – but by the Prince and the Power of the Air (Ephesians 2:2) who shall manifest himself as the “prince who is to come” – yes, the same prince whose people once destroyed “the city and the sanctuary” (Daniel 9:26) under Titus of Rome in 70 A.D. No, you say, forbid we accredit the work of Jesus Christ to Antichrist! Oh, and would Antichrist whose “war desolations are determined” dearly love for us to twist these words and thereby turn the rejection and “cutting off” of Messiah by the Jews as the abridgement of supposed “Messiah’s” past covenant once announced to the House of Israel and “broken” – i.e., rejected by the Jews, and not the “covenant” (“treaty” or “defense pact”) yet to be enforced by the future False Messiah – that wicked prince – whose desolations shall commence in the midst of Daniel’s Seventieth Week and persist 30 days beyond the finality of that week unto the 1,290th day – “desolations are determined” (Daniel 9:26a, 12:11)? The clarity of Jesus on this issue alone who warned us of this yet future “transgression of desolation” or “making desolate” – the infamous “abomination of desolation” – spoken of in Daniel 8:13; 9:26-27; 11:31; 12:11; Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14 – should evidence enough that the 70th Week is separated from the original 69 weeks and that the contortions of those who vainly would make the 70th week contiguous with the original 69 only exposes their rabid attempts to disinherit the Jews of the Last Days who shall confront the “prince who is to come.” If this were a passing prophetic fancy, Jesus would not have laid such prescient emphasis upon the same – nor would the apostles Paul and John (II Thess. 2:4; Revelation 9:11; 11:7-10; 13:1-10; 17:8-16).
Enter: They who would enforce today’s Israel to comply with the new Titus who as the Willful King shall “through his cunning he shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule” for he “understands sinister schemes” (Daniel 8:25, 23). Today’s target loudly proclaims Israel as the oppressor versus the oppressed, the prosecutor versus the persecuted and the culprit versus the victimized. In this oppressor-victim enlightened age – is it not only fair, reasonable and altogether compassionate that we acknowledge the wretched state of our Palestinian brethren who suffer at the hands of the recalcitrant Jew? Of course it is – and who abides their rescue from the hands of their oppressors among Western Enlightenment? Well, of course, the imposition of the Treaty of Hell and Death upon these rascals of the Middle East – you know, the ones President Obama, Hillary Clinton and V-P Joe Biden who’ve become altogether outraged over Israel’s settlement policies as major impediments to peace; to wit, now we have the United Nations buttressed by the US engagement in the council’s decidedly anti-Israel bias. If you will kindly notice the obvious here – it is not the Religious Right, and most assuredly not the detestable conceits of the Christian Zionists so accused, who wish to put a harness on the Israeli stallion – to the contrary, it is the Political Left and the Religious Lefties who abhor the death-squad efforts of the Israelis and their hideous treatment of the anti-Zionist flotillas setting sail from Turkey and Cyprus to Gaza, to relieve the victims of Israeli aggression. So – as the nudity of the king passes us by – isn’t it apparent he has no clothes on…so, who do you think will ENFORCE the Defense Pact upon Israel? Answer: The mandatory two-state solution crowd (especially the spiritually-motivated Evangelical Left and, in particular, the likes of those who so slavishly embrace Liberation Theology – “setting the prisoners free” – i.e., those especially behind the infamous WALL built by the Israelis) is, my dear Evangelical Liberation Theology Lefty, the accomplice to the pending crime of the ages. If the Right is identified as Nazism/Neo-Nazi, apartheid and now, Zionism – then shall it be the Right who imposes upon Israel the Treaty or is it the Left with all her nobility and justice for all? Give me a break – the Christian Zionist/Religious Right may have some off the wall (no pun intended) nutty theological ideas (e.g., John Hagee thinks Jesus did not come the first time as the Messiah for Israel – a totally absurd notion) – but they’re the last ones demanding “peace in our time” for Israel – no, no, no – it’s that idiot riding without a stitch of clothing on, or, better yet, those who refuse to admit the inadmissible: The Religio-Politico LEFT in all his glory – it is they who shall impose the Treaty of Hell and Death! It is they, a resurgent people who well-know the “prince who is to come” – for they either clearly recognize this nefarious character as their final solution to the Jewish problem or they are so caught up in their righteous cause to liberate the socially oppressed that they are but ready pawns in a chess game they think they can surely win, and with a little help, so they aspire to victory! Well, of course, how could we side with the bigoted likes of these superiority flames opposed to social justice? Again, to the contrary, it will be the full embrace of unmitigated socialism, egalitarianism and overt democracy gone amok that will put the hammer lock on Israel, especially her Biblical Zionists thugs – and to hell (as in the Treaty of Hell) with the Christian Zionist allies of this prejudiced outfit – accomplices in crime, ALL! Really? Yes, really! You may foolishly and stupidly argue that the Religious Right intends to impose, enforce, deliberately strong arm Israel into an agreement, obviously against her will, but you would be altogether barking up the wrong tree—in sum: utterly disingenuous of you. You know full well that only the puritanical Left who espouse the rights of the oppressed – who see in themselves and their noble leadership – a cause worth living for and one worth dying for! And, say, isn’t it about time that wealth redistribution be the ruse of the day; I mean, after all, isn’t it the Left that demands an apology be given to the world for all of America’s imperialist sins and Israel’s extension of the same? Yes, indeedy, the same crowd who detest the boss who calls his secretary “honey” or “dear” as a form of “constructive rape” – that’s the crowd clamoring for Israel’s head!
“‘We as evangelicals have endorsed an Israeli domestic policy that has placed over 3 million people under military occupation, creating the largest refugee population in the world,’ the film (With God on Our Side, Porter Speakman) trailer opines. ‘Why is this defended by the Christian church? How is it we don’t see it as suffering of some people?’ A Middle Eastern voice adds: ‘The way we hear Christian Zionism here is [that] to accept this theology is to commit suicide as a people group.’ “Here is the film’s main message to evangelicals, especially to young people. The Old Religious Right crassly imposed a pro-Israel U.S. foreign policy based on its end-times theology, creating untold suffering among largely innocent Palestinians. More thoughtful, more compassionate evangelicals will reject that heritage and instead stand with the Palestinians as the victim group most needing Christian compassion. “The new mythology that the Evangelical Left hopes to perpetuate about the Middle East is just as loaded as the politically charged theology that all pro-Israel evangelicals are alleged to have. In essence, the Evangelical Left is largely adopting the old Religious Left’s Liberation Theology view of the Middle East, in which the Palestinians are the impoverished Third World victims, while Israel and the U.S. are the imperialists. The thirst by Evangelical Left groups to leave the tourist path and visit with purportedly more authentic Palestinian communities is mostly a rehash of the old Religious Left’s infatuation with the Sandinista experiment in Nicaragua in the 1980s. ‘Oh, you must go there and see for yourselves,’ they insisted then as they insist today. ‘The reality is so very different from what our government and other vested interests in America will tell you.’ “Supposedly, Palestinian hosts, like pro-Sandinista Nicaraguan hosts of 25 years ago, will perform like the Oracle of Delphi, clarifying reality, and blowing away the deceptive fog of Western colonialism. ‘I was brought up in a Christian home…and we were always taught to support Israel, and really Israel was synonymous with Israel in the Bible,’ explains film producer Porter Speakman. But as he has since learned since his enlightenment, ‘As a Christian, a lot of our theology helps to perpetuate a lot of the human rights (abuses) and injustice that is happening.’ Expecting resistance to his film, he warns: ‘It’s a perspective that many people don’t want others to hear.’ (Evangelical Left Targets Israel, Mark Tooley, Institute of Religion and Democracy, April 5, 2010) Consider,
how is it that Obama delights in the embrace of President Mubarak of Egypt? Somehow
he interprets Hosni’s power-broker role between the Palestinians and the
Israelis as a sublime form of neutrality, a sort of non-partisan guy who knows
how to play fair. “The White House seemed strangely indifferent to the feelings of resentment that this treatment of Netanyahu aroused in the Jewish community. Furthermore, shortly after Netanyahu returned to Israel, the president risked provoking even greater Jewish outrage by insinuating that American troops were dying in Iraq and Afghanistan because Israelis and Palestinians could not agree to make peace. Conflicts such as the Israeli-Arab one are ‘costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasure,’ the president said.

“Much like the contention that creationism is a new invention of a few simple-minded fundamentalists; there is the popular idea that ‘Christian Zionism’ was heralded-in with the publication of The Late Great Planet Earth. Nothing could be further from the truth. Levi Parsons and Pliny Fisk, young missionaries from New England, journeyed to the Holy Land in 1819, and felt certain that Zion would be rebuilt and the exiles would be called home. American presidents like U.S. Grant, John Adams, and Harry Truman were strongly supportive of Zionism. “Charles Spurgeon preached from the pulpit of London's Metropolitan Tabernacle that Ezekiel 37 was future history, and that there would be a sovereign Jewish state in Palestine. The poet Emma Lazarus advocated for a return of the Jews to establish their state. William Blackstone appealed to President Benjamin Harrison that two million Russian Jews wanted to settle Palestine; he did this because he believed Isaiah is true. And here's a fascinating historical nugget: Professor George Bush, a Hebrew scholar, wrote Valley of Vision; the Dry Bones of Israel Revived in 1844. Would that his descendants, two of whom ascended to the highest office in America, would have internalized these ideas. “In every generation of world history, there have been Bible believers and people who didn't believe in the Bible. This same sad contrast is in our world today. For every Lindsey or Spurgeon, there is a Mark Noll or John Shelby Spong (a man who said: ‘I am sure if Jesus sees what his followers are doing these days aligning themselves with an Anti-Christ Zionist State of Israel, I am sure he will open and renegotiate a different deal with God.’). The Zion-haters foster hard attitudes toward the Jews. In his extraordinary book, Don Isaac Abravanel: Statesman and Philosopher, Benzion Netanyahu wrote, ‘The spearhead of the drive against the Jews [in the Middle Ages] in Spain, as against those of any other medieval country in the west, was the clergy.’ “How pathetic. We see the same anti-Semitic strain in the Church today, whether from Sunday school teachers like Jimmy Carter, or the gang from Middle East Churches for Peace, who constantly advocate against the Jewish state. Those who don't like the very fact of Israel do everything in their power to denigrate its supporters. But it is those supporters who see reality for what it is, and glory in the one true God, who alone has the power to bring history to its proper conclusion. “At the end of that history will be millions of Jews, standing on their feet, in their own country.” (Ibid. Churches Who have turned against God and Christian Zionism)
EMERGENTS AND ANTI-CHRISTIAN-ZIONISM… “Emergents still identify themselves as evangelicals, which is clever since they share many of the same views as radical scholars like Marcus Borg or John Spong (who don’t believe any of the fundamentals of the faith). Emergents, though, embrace many views that have always been the domain of left-wing Christians. It is not surprising, then, that Emergent leaders like Brian McLaren really don't like dispensationalists and supporters of Israel. Not that McLaren would put it that way. “McLaren, former pastor of Cedar Ridge Community Church in Maryland, defines himself as an ‘activist,’ and is now so popular on the speaking circuit that he has become entrenched in the publishing houses of Zondervan and Jossey-Bass, high-powered Christian and secular companies. With a BA in English from the University of Maryland, McLaren is articulate and seemingly self-effacing.” (Ibid.)
“This week the Jerusalem Post identifies three of the most prominent evangelical critics of Israel as Jimmy Carter, Stephen Sizer and Brian McLaren. Whilst Carter is world famous, and I have discussed Sizer at length on this blog, Brian McLaren is less well-known. “Brian McLaren is a leading figure in the Emergent Church movement, which seeks to deconstruct traditional church culture and move away from the conservative American evangelicalism. McLaren is portrayed on his website as someone who takes peace and social justice seriously. Thus, it is important for Christians who listen to McLaren to closely scrutinize his approach to social justice and the accuracy of his statements. “McLaren signed the Joint declaration by Christian Leaders on Israel’s 60th Anniversary, which was organized by Ben White and Philip Rizk. McLaren’s interest in global social justice focuses in particular upon the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “So here we have Brian McLaren, a leading proponent of Christian social justice, drawing attention to Ben White’s call for boycotts against Israel (I am sure McLaren is ignorant of Ben White’s bigoted attitudes towards Israel and Jews, his approach to antisemitism and antisemitic violence, his flirtation with Holocaust denial, as well as his view that boycotting Israel itself is ‘non-violent resistance’ that is designed to go hand-in-hand with violence resistance). “So should Christians really take Ben White’s call for an anti-Israel boycott seriously, even when endorsed by so widely-read a figure as Brian McLaren? And should Christians sympathetic to the Palestinian national cause join in anti-Israel boycott campaigns?” (Brian McLaren, Christian social justice and the boycott of Israel, Seismic Shock, June 15, 2009)
“The rights of Palestinians are ignored in favor of the Israeli state – as if God is happy to bless some people at the expense of others.” Is it, therefore, any wonder that Rick Warren, America’s Pastor for social justice, and other assorted techniques in gospel preaching, finds himself ingratiated by the likes of Brian McLaren? I find it increasingly disingenuous of the Evangelical Left to lambast Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians while virtually stone silent regarding the Palestinian suicide bombers, Hamas, etc. Simply put, the Christian Left – especially, the Evangelical Left, along with their Liberation Theology allies who herald the coming kingdom of social justice for all announce that it will be the Evangelical Christian-Zionist right wingers who will be – and are – the Neo-Nazis who will force Israel into the Treaty of Hell and Death…while the Kingdom Now crowd and/or the “preach-it-like-I-can’t-wait-for-Jesus-to-come-and-damn-the-horrid-Christian-Zionist-crowd” cheers the prince who parades before his subjects fully disrobed (or in shorts, whichever). Since the Pentateuch is naught but lessons and folklore – there’s no real history going on here, so what “spiritual claim” does today’s Jew have to the Promised Land? Shouldn’t these doomsday Christian Zionists stop proclaiming this preposterous and self-fulfilling prophecy leading us to Armageddon and start preaching the real gospel of the green earth, social justice, elimination of poverty and the redistribution of wealth? Stop championing Israel’s cause and get with the relief efforts in Gaza – all the while the missile industry (pointed at Israel proper) in the Hamas land of plenty is booming!
“The battle for Israel has been going on for over 4,000 years, ever since God called Abraham to believe in Him and trust in Him. God promised He would make of him a great name, a great nation, a great people, and ultimately, a great blessing! Satan has done everything he can to stall the promise of God to the nation and people of Israel, and to fight against the very purposes of God Himself. “Therefore, it is not surprising when [an] esteemed member of the presidential press corps for over 50 years, Helen Thomas, showed her true feelings when she commented about Israel: ‘Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine. Remember, these people are occupied. And it’s their land. It’s not Germany, it’s not Poland.’ And when asked where Israelis should go, she said they should ‘go home’ to Germany, Poland and the United States.’ Rightly so, there have been consequences for her hateful comments [she was dismissed from the Washington Press Corps. and banished from the media].” (Christians in Defense of Israel, Dr. Ed Hindson, October 2010, a project of the World Prophetic Ministry – Newsletter) I do not find the silence juxtaposed to the noisy protests of Christians when it comes to the persecuted Christians in Pakistan vs. the alleged social abuses of Israelis against Palestinians a justifiable outcry…and neither, apparently, do the Orthodox Christians who reprinted this article: “Several weeks ago, mobs involving hundreds, and perhaps thousands, of enraged radical Islamists destroyed several Christian villages in Pakistan, responding to incendiary rumors about Christians supposedly desecrating the Koran. Hundreds of homes were destroyed, and at least 14 Christians were murdered, including three Christian women and a child who were burned alive as the radicals torched houses and shops. “U.S. church groups largely have been stunningly silent about these atrocities. At least the Geneva-based World Council of Churches and the Church of England's Archbishop of Canterbury denounced the Pakistani outrages. “But U.S.
church groups like to reserve their fire for what's really important, such as
denouncing Israel for evicting two Palestinian families from their homes in
East Jerusalem. On August 2, Israeli police, executing a court order, evicted
50 Palestinians from their “This messiness did not hinder Churches for Middle East Peace almost immediately to contact Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to demand that the U.S. ‘insist on the immediate reversal of this ill-considered eviction and on the restoration of these houses to their former residents.’ The signers include the Catholic Bishop who chairs the U.S. Bishops’ Committee on International Justice and Peace, the Episcopal Church’s Presiding Bishop, the President of the United Methodist Council of Bishops, the Stated Clerk of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the General Minister of the United Church of Christ, the Presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the National Council of Churches, and several left-leaning Catholic orders, among others.” (Turning a Blind Eye to Murdered Christians, FrontPage Magazine, Mark D. Tooley, August 17, 2009 as it appeared on OrthodoxNet.com Blog)
“Bishops and
patriarchs from across the Middle East on October 23 (2010) called on the
international community to end the occupation of Arab lands in an official
statement following a two-week synod. ‘Recourse to theological and
biblical positions which use the Word of God to wrongly justify injustices is
not acceptable,’ the synod statement said. Yes – “the presence of Christ” – the same “Christ” whose prevailing presence “opened not His mouth” as His brethren, according to the flesh, were led to the ovens of Auschwitz! These are the messengers of the False Prophet of today – cloaked in the modern garb of metro-sexual, hip Emergent Christendom and the ancient garb of Christian religionists who are determined to assist those who would wipe Israel off the map – along, no doubt, with that rowdy bunch of Christian Zionist apostates from the planet! “Yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service” (John 16:2). Brethren, think it not strange that this alliance of religionists solidifies its collaboration with those who would force Israel to relent – demands a two-state solution – denounces with all clarion clarity and religious zeal each and every infraction, exaggerating Zion’s excesses to be the cause célèbre of both the political and religious Left – but, in measure, their conservative allies who among the Religious Right seek for Kingdom Now and/or so long for egalitarian social justice and whose “biblical appeal” is nothing more than the ranting of a fundamentalist lefty, making little or no sense.
“Behold, the day of the LORD is coming, and your spoil will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; the city shall be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley . . . and in that day it shall be that living waters shall flow from Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and half of them toward the western sea; in both summer and winter it shall occur. And the LORD shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be—‘The LORD is one,’ and His name one” (Zechariah 14:1-9 excerpts). |
